It’s been awhile, but as I said in September, blogging is slowed down these days, both because I decided I wanted to focus more on enjoying the travel experience rather than recording it, and because I’ve been very busy at work fighting the man and such. But I’m about to start a whirlwind few 10 weeks of travel, so I figured I’d check in.
In a few days, I’ll be using my Hilton Aspire $250 annual Hilton Resorts credit at the recently Hilton-branded Hilton Playa del Carmen. It’s a rare all-inclusive that is right in town, and right on the beach — and adults-only. I’m not sure what to expect. My credit will cover almost all of my one night there. The trip is only two nights, as it’s sort of a mileage run, getting some sweet Delta MQDs on Aeromexico-coded, Delta-operated flights. I arrive late on night 1, so am staying at a very cheap, but well-reviewed, property, managed by the same company as the hotel I stayed at on my last trip in
Then I’ll be making a trip home to New York for Thanksgiving, back to DC for a few weeks, then off to Mexico again to Puerto Vallarta for a slightly longer trip, where I’ll be staying at the Almar again, as I did for my Inauguration 2020 escape. I had originally booked this trip thinking I’d use my Hilton Aspire credit at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta there, only to discover recently that it is not on the list of participating resorts. Grumble.
Then back to DC again for a few weeks, before New Year’s in London, for which I probably made a foolish choice in booking a trip from DC to Detroit to Paris to London rather than just doing IAD-AMS-LCY on KLM. Whoops. More miles, but a longer trip. I’m hotel hopping there using points/certificates, but will be at the Intercontinental Park Lane, Indigo Paddington, and Conrad St. James, before a more sensible routing home.
Then, I’m back for about two weeks, before going on my previously-referenced around-the-world trip to Victoria Falls, Cape Town, Chiang Mai, and Hong Kong
All told, that will be just about 44,000 miles of travel, on 23 different flights, over the next ten weeks. And there’s a good chance I’ll have some work travel in there too. This may not have been my best planning, but, we will see, won’t we?
Thankfully, I have no travel planned (yet) between my return from Hong Kong and Malaga/Torremolinos in late-May.
Tips, wishes, gripes all welcome.
